Weekly poll wrap-up

Last week’s poll was “who will win the Veep sweepstakes and run with Obama?

And the winner is...None Of The Above!!! This, of course, is not without precedent, since former Veep George Herbert Walker Bush has four names as well. We wish President Obama and Vice President Above the best of luck as they enter into the new administration.

But seriously folks, the fact that “none of the above” got 21% of the vote is probably attributable to me leaving Joe Biden off the list, which was totally my bad. I thought I’d included every semi-credible name I’d heard, and merely forgot Biden at the time, which was actually most of his problem during the early primaries, I’m guessing. And since the polling software doesn’t allow me to change anything after the first vote has been cast, whoever slipped in exactly 0.00000001 nanoseconds after I posted the poll to vote on it gets the “THANKS A LOT BUDDY” award this week.

That said, if Biden gets hit by a bus, or the National Enquirer starts following him around, readers preferred Kansas Governor Kathleen “I’m not Hillary” Sebelius for VP to the tune of 15%, followed by New Mexico Governor Bill “I’m not Anglo” Richardson with 12%. Evan “I’m not Exciting” Bayh came next with 8%, followed by Tim “I’m not Raising” Kaine with 7%. After that, it was a quick race into severe mediocrity.

As always, this week’s poll is at the top of the right hand sidebar. Vote on it there, and comment on it here.

Yeah, I didn't vote because at the time I thought Biden was the top choice. Whether that's still true is unclear, but he's still my choice because of my own polling. And by "polling" I mean, talking to my R sister and Dad, who say they'll vote for Obama if Biden is on the ticket.

/How 'bout those 'Stros? Ugly, but a sweep's a sweep.

The only thing keeping me from completely hating the Astros is that they give me hope, however pathetic, that the underdog can prevail in an impossible long-shot situation every once in a while. And at any given moment, I totally reserve the right to withdraw that sentiment.

So, big whoop, we sweep, so we're still 13 games out. Let's save the good champagne for another occasion.

Uh, oh. fubar's cranky. Having been a dedicated fan for 19 years and season-ticket holder (i.e., sucker!)for 11, I completely understand. But God is on our side! Witness last night's game. Too bad the umpiring crew didn't get it, failing to call the fu*cking game despite a TORNADO WARNING requiring all fans to evacuate the stands to the concourse. Hellooo? Nice of them to finally call it in the 8th. Sheesh.
