Today is the first anniversary of Letters From Texas. Nobody's more surprised than I am that I'm still doing this after a whole year. But I started on impulse, and I'm guessing one of these days I'll quit on impulse.

Out of the fuzzy haze of the intertubes I stumbled onto this blog of a twisted human. Sort of like finding a kick ass BBQ joint that is more of a shack than a restaurant. Pay no attention to the seven layers of smoke on the walls and enjoy the brisket.
I vote for the Mae Jackson piece as some of your best.
Thanks Cactus - that piece was re-edited and was eventually printed on the op-ed page of the Waco newspaper, which was a first for this blog.
Smoke stained-walls are actually one of the most important features to look for.
And your shame has not gone unnoticed, Harold - you never did publish my plea to you to come out and canvass in Elgin. ;)
